Pefanis Travel Hire Contract Terms & Conditions

This page displays key information which forms part of the contract for car hire at Pefanis Travel.

GENERAL

All drivers must be at least 23 years old and have held a full Driver's Licence for at least one year.

Any fines or endorsements issued by the authorities while our vehicle is in your control are not covered by the included insurance. Any fines for illegal parking or driving and/or expenses incurred by such use will be paid in full by you prior to your departure from Kefalonia.

Fuel is supplied and noted at the start of your hiring term and the vehicle is to be returned with at least the same amount of fuel. Failure to comply with this condition will result in a charge equal to the cost difference between the start and finish fuel levels.

The roads on our island consist mainly of concrete and tarmac which proves hazardous when wet and extreme caution must be exercised while driving under these conditions. Also, you may not be accustomed to finding goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens or slow moving vehicles in the road while navigating a sharp bend.

Our island has its fair share of accidents and we see many holidays ruined by death or serious injury due to the somewhat hazardous conditions on our roads.

While this is not intended to dissuade you from hiring a car, it does show you the importance of hiring quality vehicles with the very best insurance cover to safeguard you and your family against any unfortunate incident.

INSURANCE

All our vehicles come with fully comprehensive cover which includes personal accident injury. Full details are available on request, but the policy does not cover the driver whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A Collision Damage Waiver is included within the price you pay for the hire, meaning that you will not be charged in the event of an accident resulting in damage to the vehicle but with the following exceptions:

Damage to the vehicle's interior, including excessive dirt is not covered, nor is the underside of the car, including suspension, exhaust and braking systems and engine damage, where this is the direct result of using the vehicle off of the main roads.

As explained when you arrive, our Insurance and the CDW only covers you while driving on our tarmac  and concrete roads, even if you hire a 4X4. So if damage should occur while driving off-road, you are not covered and YOU WILL BE CHARGED!

PRICING

The prices we charge include unlimited mileage whilst on Kefalonia, one additional named driver, all local government imposed taxes, delivery to the Airport, Lassi, Lourdas, Svoronata and Skala and breakdown assistance with an exchange car should the need arise.

Our prices offer great value when you consider what you get for your money. Please be aware that not all companies supply the same level of insurance and breakdown cover and it is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have adequate insurance to drive a vehicle while here.

Also, with recent changes to the European Directive, motoring offences that occur within a member state of the EU are automatically enforced the same as if in your own country. The Greek justice system may be more harsh than your own and may result in more severe penalties than you're otherwise accustomed to.
